Man, I just found out that my cousins cat has had to go to kitty heaven as well, such a sad week. I feel sad for my loved ones having to say goodbye to their loved ones. To make all the sadness more acute, yesterday we saw a street dog get killed outside our house, hit by a truck. It was horrible. Hearing it´s last cries made me cry and feel sick to my stomach, and the mood around it was so blase. I guess people are used to seeing the street dog die here, but I am not. R.I.P. pup, you deserve much better in your next life.
Yesterday we changed our tickets to fly to Panama a few days earlier than we were planning since we have had all this extra time in Colombia instead of racing through Venezuela and needing all the extra time. So we are flying out on the 19th. It will feel good to be moving and seeing ne things again. Also, it was one of the easiest ticket situations we have encountered this whole trip. Didn´t cost extra to change, we went in and about 5 minutes later we had a change in schedule.
Last night we had dinner with Jose and he made mashed green bananas with cheese and butter for us, which when his mom makes it he eats with hot chocolate. With us he ate it with beer, which he thought was very funny, saying his mother would never, NEVER serve it with beer. He send big sweet greetings to Micah, who he will always love, and my mom, who he calls a beautiful and wonderful woman. It was fun hanging out and being forced into Spanish beyond my confort zone. Learned new words.
This morning the roosters started at around 5.30 in the morning and didn´t stop till about 9. I hate those birds, they drive me crazy. Along with that, there were mice scurrying around in the roof and shitting on the bed. I am finding more to look forward to about home.
