So, things are moving along over here. A few days ago we spent the day in Santa Marta, going out to the mall, and to Carrefour, the huge super market a little ways from the center, to do something a little different. I was just looking around at the streets and the people as we were riding in the busetta going out there, thinking about the differences between home and Colombian streets. Watching the traffic surge around us as we were at a stand still because coming at us were donkey drawn carts, huge trailers connected to bikes, big trucks, small vans, cars, pedestrians pulling carts, regular bikes, motorcycles, the works.
Then, the next morning I was looking blindly out of the window waking up in the morning, and when my eyes focused on movement in the highest branches of a huge tree in our neighbors yard, I realized I was looking at a huge iguana. It was HUGE, probably around 3.5 feet long, but maybe more since it was a little ways away I could have been miscalculating. And it was just sitting there for a while stalking it´s prey, until suddenly it would jump and whip it´s long tail around as it thrashed on small birds.
It has been hot, hot. Music has been blaring loud, loud. We have gotten really good at making patacones.
